Flush Transitions to Drywall
wedi® Building Panels are impermeable to water and do not require an additional waterproof coating for applications in heavy-duty wet areas. At 1/2” or 5/8” thick, these panels can achieve flush transitions with adjacent drywall surfaces and can be safely, simply connected to the drywall using wedi® joint sealant or sealing tape.
Additionally, wedi® Building Panels provide thermal insulation, preventing the unpleasant feeling of cold walls in the shower area and reducing the build-up of steam and condensation. Of course, water vapor rises in steamy showers and might attack drywall ceilings; thus, be sure to consider using wedi® Building Panels throughout your whole wet area - including wall and ceiling.
Align the wedi® Building Panel with your connecting drywall area using the appropriate panel thickness.
Seal the seams with wedi® sealing tape and thinset. Consider wedi® Building Panel Premium with it’s tapered edge to achieve perfect and seamless transitions to drywall - especially in areas that will be painted or covered with wall paper.
